Spruce Soldiers at Agate Beach, Oregon

This is a scan of a real photo picture postcard of some soldiers from a Spruce Squadron located at Agate Beach, Oregon. The photo was probably taken in 1918. Notice the flivver (Ford Model T) that they are posing on and around. The fellow in the goggles is probably the driver. He is the tenth man from the left side in the full scan of the entire picture [143k JPG].

What were the Spruce Squadrons? I'm glad you asked. This is a piece of WW I history that is all but forgotten in the United States. Read about it here.

I have another scan of Spruce soldiers. This one shows Spruce Soldiers on a Logging Truck.

If you wish, you can load the picture separately [47k JPG].
